Schools within the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation have provided outstanding sixth form opportunities for well over a hundred years. The new Sixth Form at Crayford Academy has built upon this strong ethos and expectations: we provide a broad and academic curriculum that supports our students’ ambition to go onto University or Higher Apprenticeships.
Our students have access to specialist teaching, state of the art facilities, extensive extra-curricular activities and a dedicated Sixth Form team that looks after their well-being and supports their academic achievement.
Crayford Academy has a music specialism and offers a large range of opportunities for our senior students to excel in this area. This is in complement to many enrichment opportunities including volunteering, charitable enterprise, leadership experiences and programmes offered and supported by the Haberdashers’ Company.
The Sixth Form has its own purpose-built facilities on the second floor of the main school building and students will continue to benefit from all aspects of our first-class facilities including playing fields, gym, ICT facilities, lecture theatre and media suite.
We offer our Sixth Form students a well-rounded experience and ensure that we equip them with the attributes to become highly attractive candidates in the very competitive markets of higher education, apprenticeships and employment. Beyond, their core curriculum, our students are given many opportunities to enhance their skills set and raise their aspirations.
This year, our Year 12 students have already enjoyed a session with internationally-renowned entrepreneur and speaker Dave McQueen. Many of our students are already involved in charitable work supporting local and international schemes. Our enrichment programme is varied with students able to choose form a wide range of activities: the Extended Project qualification, which is an excellent preparation for university studies and well-regarded by admissions tutors, Core Maths, our sports and fitness programme, music lessons, the Debating Society and many others. Our students also take part in a range of national competitions, which gives them access to high-calibre mentoring, coaching and networking experiences.
Our Sixth Form students are also encouraged to demonstrate and develop their leadership skills through our student leadership scheme with the selection of our Head Boy, Head Girls and prefects.
Being part of a vibrant Sixth Form is excellent preparation for University, Higher Apprenticeships and the workplace, giving students a broad and varied experience and the chance to fully mature.
