At Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy our aim is to provide fully inclusive and enjoyable Physical Education program. We seek to promote all aspects of Physical Education and active recreation, and encourage our students to develop physically, personally, socially and morally. We do this via a rich and varied curriculum, which focuses on fundamental skills that are applicable to all sports and activities; and also through the numerous extra-curricular activities that are provided for our students. All pupils are expected to have the correct PE kit, as listed in the Academy hand book, for every PE lesson.
In Key Stage Three students will have three 50 minute lessons each week. All year groups take part in a variety of activities across the year, covering different types of activities, from different areas of the National curriculum, (Outwitting opponents, Gymnastic activities, Athletic activities etc.). This ensures they get a balanced programme of Physical Education and develop skills that are transferrable from one activity to the next. Students will study two activities during one Askean term. In total they study 12 activities each year. The order of the activities varies for each class and there are small differences between the girls and boys curriculum. Students are assessed each term across all the activities learnt. The National Curriculum levels they achieve in each of the areas are then averaged.
All students will study Physical Education in KS4. Students will have two 50 minute lessons each week.
GCSE PEStudents can also opt for EDEXCEL GCSE PE as part of their subject options. If they choose to study GCSE PE, they get an additional 3 x 50 minute lessons a week on top of core PE. These lessons will be a mixture of theory and practical at different times of the year.

Unit 2: Performance in Physical Education
The practical element of the course involves students performing in 4 sports as either a performer, leader or official. The practical is broken down into the following areas.
All students at Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy are expected to take part in Physical Education lessons. If students have some form of illness or injury that prevent them from taking part practically in the lesson PE staff should be notified through a letter from the parent or guardian of the child. Students should still wear their PE kit as they are a part of the lesson and can help with equipment, coaching, timing, recording and officiating.
