The presence of career related activities provide the connection between learning and earning, equipping our students with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to enter and thrive in the working world.
The dedicated Full-time Career Professional (CP) who is available to support students throughout the academic year at Crayford Academy is Ms Caton – firstname.lastname@example.org or 01322402180.
Career Practice is an essential part of the transition process at Haberdashers’. The role of the Career Guidance Professional is to also ensure that all students secure a suitable and sustainable destination through the delivery of advice, guidance and application support. As a Career Professional Ms Caton is the first point of contact for students who are thinking about what their next step is Post-16 and post Sixth Form. She provides a complete spectrum of information, advice and guidance to students, with face to face guidance playing an integral role. CPs call on an extensive knowledge of the post-16 landscape, labour market information, access routes for careers and recommended qualifications to be able to advise and guide students and decide on the most appropriate and realistic course of action. They know how and when to intervene, through transition support, NEET prevention and education, to promote the successful transition of students.
Preparing students for life after school is an important element of our work here at Crayford. Subject specific Career Education is embedded within the curriculum from Year 7 – Year 13. Through focus days and experience of the workplace students will also have numerous opportunities to participate in General Career Education and Career Exploration activities which will help them gain Employability Skills. At numerous points throughout the academic year students in Year 7 – 13 will participate in workshops from employers who aim to link what students learn in class to their job role. Students are encouraged to utilise the drop in access to the careers office throughout the academic year should they have any queries. Career Information will also be available via the school website and through regular updates via letter/email and registration tutors. The Career Guidance Professional will also attend parent information evenings to provide input and support.
